Student Assessment Committee Meeting
Meeting of November 12, 2008 Minutes
Present: Jessy Hansen, April Becker, Kristy Rickert, Russell Crawford
Absent: Students: Heath Dooley
Hansen called the meeting to order at 10:00 am in Founders Hall Room 2113.
Old Business:
- The committee members discussed the data analysis of the Instructional Preferences survey. The committee members discussed throwing certain questions out due to the mean response. The members also discussed analyzing questions from the perspective of prefer to learn to what is happening in class. Members of the committee shared questions that they would like to be compared to other questions. Hansen stated she would begin the data analysis and have preliminary results at the next meeting.
- The committee members discussed different ways to disseminate the information and data from the Instructional Preferences survey. The committee has agreed to present the information to the Student Government and Faculty Senate. The committee also discussed meeting with individual departments to share results with them as well. The committee agreed upon making a power point to present. The committee will decide which data they want to present during following meetings.
- Becker shared a flier she created to help recruit new committee members. The committee divided up the colleges on campus in order to get the fliers distributed. Each member took a flier for their college in order to get the signature to distribute the flier. Each member is responsible for distributing the fliers within their designated college.
New Business:
- The committee discussed ideas for a spring survey. The committee discussed not doing a survey in the spring to focus on the proper dissemination of the Instructional Preferences survey. Hansen stated she would discuss this with Jeanne Butler, the faculty supervisor, and share what was decided at the next meeting.
