Student Assessment Committee Minutes
April 10, 2008
Founders Hall, Room 2111

Present: Students: Jessy Hansen, April Becker, Bethany Hyatt, and Tim Davis
Faculty: Sarah von Schrader
Absent: Students: Sara Chu, Heath Dooley, and Russell Crawford

Hansen called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm in Founders Hall Room 2111.

New Business:

  • Hansen shared the early results of the Instructional Preferences Survey with the committee. Hansen asked for ideas of comparisons or analyses from the results. The committee discussed comparing the importance to helpfulness, most helpful to how often it occurs, class status comparisons, looking by major comparisons, and how do you learn best for each department. The committee discussed the possibility of presenting the information in the 08-09 school year at conferences. Hansen informed the committee that the survey would close on April 18th and would send out the final results and information to the committee.
  • Von Schrader discussed with the committee the upcoming NCA visit. Von Schrader shared that the NCA committee has designated a meeting time with the SAC on April 28th at 11:25 am in Founders Hall room 2111. All committee members were encouraged to participate in the meeting. The members present at the meeting shared their intent to come to the meeting. Hansen will send emails to those not in attendance regarding the NCA visit and meeting.
  • The committee discussed new ways of recruiting members for the SAC for the upcoming year. The committee discussed different ways to recruit members that include putting information in the student bulletin, talking with the student government, sending faculty emails, and attending new student orientation. Other suggestions included creating posters and setting up a table for Blue and Gold Days, Mardi Gra days, and Transfer Day. Hansen volunteered to contact the student government and to contact student life to learn how to be a apart of the events listed above.
