Minutes of the Meeting of the Assessment Committee
Thursday, February 14, 2008 – 3:30 p.m.
Academic Affairs Conference Room, (2147) Founder’s Hall
Present: Paul Bishop, Karin Covalt, Ron Crocker, Kim Elliott, Jessy Hansen, Mary Kommers, George Lawson, Tami Moore, Sarah von Schrader and Gloria Vavricka
Absent: Greg Anderson, Jeanne Butler, Tami Moore, and Scott Unruh
The meeting was called to order by Coordinator of Assessment, Sarah von Schrader, at the above time and place.
Old Business:
- Self-Study Comments
All the members of the Committee were asked to share comments on the Self-Study Report that was prepared for the April 28-29 NCA focused visit. The report will be sent to NCA on March 2, 2008. Considerable discuss ensued. Overall, the consensus of the Committee was that the report was excellent, and no major changes were suggested.
New Business
- WEAVEonline Update
Von Schrader and Kim Elliott gave a short demonstration of WEAVEonline, an online accreditation and assessment software. The Office of Assessment has begun entering departmental information into WEAVEonline including departmental mission, objectives, and instruments. In the fall, all departments and programs will begin submitting their assessment reports online using this software. Assessment Coordinator von Schrader can be contacted for assistance. Training for individuals submitting assessment reports will begin in Fall 2008, before the October deadline for report submittal.
UNK has been using the newest version of the software, and there are several bugs that we are trying to work out. The authors of WEAVEonline have been extremely helpful and efficient in trying to get any glitches rectified. The Office of Assessment provide access to WEAVEonline prior to the September training, if requested.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, meeting adjourned at 4:07 p.m. The next meeting of the Committee will be Thursday, March 13.
