Ethnic Studies Program Writing Rubric 

  

Likert Scale   5=high level exhibited;   3=some evidence of skill present;   1=little evidence of skill present
  

  1. Student demonstrates a general understanding of the concepts of ethnicity.
  2. Student demonstrates the ability to analyze the critical issues of race and ethnicity related to their own personal development.
  3. Student demonstrates the ability to write in a logically organized, mechanically sound, and critically grounded format.
  4. Student demonstrates an understanding of the experiences and values of underrepresented social groups.
  5. Student demonstrates the development of skills and problem-solving strategies relevant to the topic analyzed.

A mean score of 20-25 would be desired.
