The mission of the Science Teaching program is to enhance classroom instruction by providing a flexible yet rigorous program of study within an area of expertise (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Physical Science). Students who successfully complete the master of science degree demonstrate specific knowledge within their area of specialization, possess broader knowledge across multiple disciplines in the sciences / mathematics, implement that knowledge into curricula at the pre-collegiate level, and design, conduct, and communicate the results of research
in oral and written formats.
- Students demonstrate knowledge of essential content and can engage in informed discourse in their chosen area of specialization.
- Students demonstrate knowledge of concepts and processes that connect and integrate the science disciplines.
- Students develop and implement curricula that meet professional and state standards for science education.
- Students are knowledgeable consumers of educational / scientific research.
