*Numbers are from the Department of Economics undergraduate level, of which Business Education is a component.
Evidence of Need
It is often difficult for school districts to find business teachers. UNK offers one of the few programs in the state.
Justification if the program is below CCPE thresholds
The strong teacher education programs at UNK support maintaining the program. Students already enrolled in other education endorsement areas sometimes pick up the major as another endorsement. Most of the coursework is required of other majors as well, so the cost is minimal to offer the program for those who desire it.

*Numbers are from the Department of Biology graduate level, of which Science and Science/Math Education are components.
Evidence of Need
The Science/Math degrees offer some unique options for the Midwest. The quasi-interdisciplinary programs can be of real value to practicing teachers, particularly those in smaller districts.
Justification if the program is below CCPE thresholds
A key point to note is the low cost of the programs. Most of the courses required are taught in conjunction with other majors, such as those required for the MA in Biology. It costs very little to keep the option available for practicing teachers who may need the program.
