Director of Athletics
Paul Plinske joined the University of Nebraska at Kearney as Director of Athletics on September 1, 2013. Prior to this appointment, he served from 2004-2013 as Director of Athletics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He recently concluded a three-year term as Chair of the NCAA Division I, II, and III Women’s Gymnastics Committee as well as the United Way Chair for North Walworth and Jefferson Counties.
Previously (1999-2004), Paul was the Associate Athletics Director and Graduate Sport Administration Program Director at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He also served as a graduate faculty member while teaching and mentoring students in the sport administration curriculum. His previous experiences also include facility and event management, administrative football recruitment, and coaching at the college and high school levels.
A native of Minneapolis, MN, Paul received his doctorate in sport administration from the University of Minnesota. He earned a master’s degree in athletic administration from the University of Illinois and a bachelor’s in physical education from Bethel University (St. Paul, MN). His area of academic focus has been in athletic fund raising, management, leadership, and organizational structures in sport. His wife, Elizabeth, is a graduate of the University of Michigan where she was a three-time All-American in track and field and cross country.
Paul and Elizabeth have two daughters, Allison and Lauren.
