Dr. Schnoor was formerly Dean of the School of Education and
Counseling at Wayne State College (2010-2012). As a member of UNK’s faculty
from 1997-2010, he served as Coordinator of K-12/Secondary Education and
Director of Bands. UNK bands, under his direction, twice toured Italy and
performed in the Rome New Year’s Parade, performed at the Nebraska Music
Educators Conference, and performed for President William Clinton (1999). In
2009 Tau Beta Sigma honored him as national recipient of the Paula Krider
Outstanding Band Director Award. He has published articles in state and
national journals and presented papers at state, national, and international
conferences. He is Past President of both the Nebraska Music Educators and
Nebraska State Bandmasters Associations. Honors include: membership in Phi
Kappa Phi, Pi Kappa Lambda, Phi Beta Mu, and honorary membership in Tau Beta
Sigma. Dr. Schnoor was voted Outstanding Faculty Member by UNK’s Student Body,
honored as a Distinguished Faculty Member by the UNK Greek community, and
inducted into the UNK Academy for Teacher Education Excellence. A career
educator, he taught instrumental music at Wakefield Community Schools, Kearney
High School, and Lincoln Northeast High School in Nebraska. He holds degrees
from Wayne State College (BFAE) and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (MM and
Ph.D.). He is married to Teresa Schnoor, principal at Kearney’s Central
Elementary School, and they have two children, Rachel and Graham.
